As most of you will know, Yahoo Site Explorer has now closed. I wont go into what YSE was or why it was used, if you used it, you’ll already know.

Anyway, now that the only decent free backlink checker has closed its door, many people are now looking for an alternative to Yahoo Site Explorer, and we have found one which offers both a free and paid service!

Ahrefs

Ahrefs.com provide a free account which gives you 100 queries per day, with 500 results per report. While its not as good as Yahoo’s offering, its free and its not bad for those looking to get backlink information for a few sites.

For those of us that want a little more though, they offer 4 paid packages which are:

The $49 per month package provides 2,500 results per query – thats more than double the amount you got from Yahoo Site Explorer and a maximum of 500 queries per day which is enough for most people. However if you need more queries or more results, the $79 per month package may be the best option, which is also the best value for those that need more than 500 queries or want to see more than 2,500 links.
